Breakfast ideas

Anyone else skip breakfast especially when dieting?! Studies show that most people that eat breakfast tend to be slimmer than breakfast skippers. People that tend to skip breakfast because of time, laziness or trying to cut out calories end up eating more at lunch or dinner as hunger gets the best of you.

Breakfast is important. Here is a few of my go to breakfast ideas when in a rush…
1. Healthy protein smoothie:
1 tbs ground flaxeed (hollandandbarratt)
1 scoop of protein (in this case mine is strawberry)
1 banana
1/2 a cup of frozen berries (found in any supermarket)
Almond milk and a splash of water of too thick.
Whiz it up in a blender and voila!
This makes just over a glass of protein smoothie. It tastes good, has enough protein to fill you up and is quick and easy to make. Even macie likes it!

2. Porridge with blueberries and agave syrup
Porridge oats made up with almond milk and a handful of blueberries on top. I also add a spoonful of agave syrup which you can find in sainsbury’s to add sweetness to my porridge.  Agave syrup is low in white sugars (the ones you should avoid) and a sweeter alternative to honey. You can also add it to other breakfasts and smoothies so is worth buying. 

3. Fruit with natural yoghurt, almonds and agave syrup
I usually have this at the beginning of the week as I’ve just done the food shop and have plenty of fruit in. I add a spoonful of total 0% plain yoghurt and add a few unsweetened almonds crushed ontop and agave syrup to sweeten the yoghurt slightly. You could easily have this without the agave but i do find natural greek yoghurt a little bitter so i add it in for taste.

For when i have a little more time I try to make my breakfasts a little more filling. I either have…

1. Eggs and toast
I have my eggs a few different ways. Fried in coconut oil or boiled as soldiers or scrambled with a bit of almond milk.  Eggs are a great protein source and keep you fuller for longer. I add toast usually unless I have am omlette. I don’t have alot of bread but when I make sure it’s a wholemeal variety.

I use my own choice of protein powder but these are so yummy and really fill you up. They make you feel like you’re having a treat, but just a healthy one.

What ever breakfast you choose, even if it just starts off as a piece if fruit it will help you keep on the healthy bandwagon for the rest of the day.  For those of you that never have breakfast start off small, you will eventually want more breakfast and therefore not pig out at lunch time!
